To cancel a transaction using the POS, send a PUT request to the relevant endpoint.
| Scenario | Merchant uses the POS to: |
|---|---|
| The terminal prompts a customer to use a card to pay for the transaction. However, the customer wants to use cash to pay for the transaction. | Cancel the transaction on the terminal. |
Note: Don’t program the POS to receive these responses in a particular order because the gateway may send either response before the other.
The response to a cancel request doesn’t contain a message body. The HTTP status code indicates if the request was successful.
Note: If the POS receives an HTTP status code of 403, the POS can’t cancel the transaction. This can be because of one of the following reasons:
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| amount | String | Total dollar amount of the transaction. If the cancel request was successful, we return a value of 0.00. |
| status | String | Indicates the status of the transaction. If the cancel request was successful, we return a value of pos_cancelled. For a list of possible values, see the transaction status enumeration. |
| currency_code | String | ISO currency code for the transaction. For a list of possible values, see the currency code enumeration. |
