Delay Pay (BNPL) - Guide

Process loan transactions.

To add Delay Pay to your payment page, complete the following steps in order:

1. Add a button for Delay Pay

Building on your existing Hosted Fields setup, Delay Pay uses the same checkout foundation you already have. You don’t need to change your card fields, validation or initialization.
Add the Delay Pay button, configure it to open the loan page in an iFrame and handle the result. On approval, you’ll receive a temporary token that you can send to the server-side to create the Loan Sale.
- Place a standard button on your payment page and style it to match your brand (label it clearly, e.g., “Pay Later” or “Delay Pay”).
- Give the button a stable ID so your script can reference it (for example, paymentRequestLoanButton).

You must handle loan flow responses separately from your card form events, so card payments and Delay Pay don’t interfere with each other.

2. Add configuration to open an iFrame and handle the response

Update your checkout page with the following configuration. When the customer clicks the Delay Pay button this opens an iFrame and handle the response once the customer completes the payment flow.

Open the loan page (iFrame)

When the button is clicked, open an iFrame to display the Lender’s payment flow.
Keep the customer on the checkout page so they can switch to another payment method if needed.

Handle the result

Your JavaScript should listen for the response from the Lender:

On approval, you receive a temporary token. Send this token to your server-side to create the Loan Sale (see next step).
On decline or if the customer closes the loan page, keep the checkout active and show other payment options.
On error, display a message and allow the customer to try again or choose another method.

3. Process a Loan Sale

On the server-side, use the temporary token returned after approval to a Loan Sale using our REST API.
