Authentication

To send requests to the API, the authentication process is simple:

• For card-not-present transactions, pass your secret API key into the SDK. You can find this in your Account Settings.
• For card-present transactions, use the credentials provided during onboarding: Site ID, license ID, device ID, username, and password.

These values are all you need to configure your authentication object in the SDK.

During certification, you'll receive a developer ID and version number. These values identify your integration and remain constant even if you're supporting multiple merchant accounts or locations.

Before running your assigned tests, update your code to replace any placeholder values (such as zeroed developer ID and version number) with the values provided to you.

When moving from the sandbox (certification environment) to production, make sure to:

• Use your production secret API key linked to your live merchant account.
• Update the service URL to: https://api2.heartlandportico.com/Hps.Exchange.PosGateway.Web/login.aspx.
