Step 1: Prepare for card consumption

You first need to instantiate a GiftCardData object in order for the customer to use the gift card. This object is required as input for all subsequent gift card operations.

Step 2: Retrieve gift card balance

Check the balance of a gift card before initiating a sale transaction. This ensures sufficient funds are available for the purchase.

Step 3: Charge the gift card (sale)

Initiate a sale transaction to deduct funds from the gift card balance.
