Konek - Guide

Learn how to add Konek as a payment method for your integration

If using your own payment page, you, as the merchant, are responsible for integrating the Konek wallet frontend and ensuring the transaction flow completes.

This integration gives you:

Full control over the frontend experience via the Konek SDK.
Zero responsibility for authorization logic. Global Payments handles that for you.

Merchant integration flow

Merchant integrates with KONEK SDK.
Merchant sets up Pay with Konek button on payment page.
Customer clicks Pay with Konek button to initiate the payment.
Global Payments will return the payment consent ID and other details related to consent to the merchant.
The merchant will start the checkout flow by launching KONEK UI. Merchant will use the data points returned by Global payments in the consent response to launch KONEK UI.
Customer logs in to Konek wallet.
KONEK presents customer with order information and asks the customer to grant the consent which allows Financial Institutions to share their profile information with KONEK.
Customer selects the payment method on KONEK wallet.
Konek obtains a payment token corresponding to the account selected by the customer.
Konek dispatches a konekSuccess event with konekCompleted when the checkout flow is completed.
The merchant will send the authorisation request to Global Payments along with the consent ID.
Global Payments processes the authorisation.
Global Payments returns the result to the merchant.

Prerequisites

Before starting the integration, complete the following:

Step 1: Integrate with KONEK SDK and add Pay with Konek

You never handle raw card details.

Use the official SDKs provided by Konek.

To initiate the payment process, this step takes in order details from the merchant which will be used to create a consent with Global Payments to take authorisation from Payer. Please refer to the Consents API references for details on specifications.

Step 3 : Map the response and launch the Konek overlay

Below are the fields that integrators will receive in the response of a consent from Global payments. You will need these fields to launch the Konek UI.

Global Payments Field name	KONEK SDK field	Description
payment_method.digital_wallet.reference	consentId	Payment consent ID generated by provider Konek.
device.session_reference	deviceProfileSessionId	A unique identifier generated by the server for initiating device profiling.
payment_method.digital_wallet.provider_reference	correlationId	A unique identifier used to identify all the APIs invoked during the consent delivery process.
order.amount	totalAmount	Total order amount including fees and other charges. This amount has to match the amount sent to Konek as part of creating consent without which the Consent will fail / decline.
dba	merchantName	Merchant name.

Step 4 : Process the transaction

The SDK will dispatch a konekCompleted event when the checkout flow is completed by a customer on KONEK. Once you receive this event, you are ready to process the transaction. Please refer to the Transactions API references for details on specifications.

With Konek Wallet, you can process Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MITs) for the following payment types:

RECURRING
PARTIAL_SHIPMENT

For Recurring and Partial payments, ensure the stored_credential object is sent in the Authorization request:

Testing

Use your sandbox App ID/App key and the sandbox GP API base URL while testing. Switch to production credentials and base URL only when you go live.
Tokens are short-lived, so request a fresh access token for every backend call rather than reusing one across requests.
If a call that works from a tool like Postman or CURL fails from your own backend with a generic error from GP API, closely compare headers, e.g. Accept-Encoding, User-Agent.
Keep App ID and App key in environment variables or a secrets manager on your backend only. Never place them in HTML, client-side JavaScript, or any code delivered to the browser.
